Programs

Enhanced Visitation Program:

The Enhanced Visitation Program provides assistance to families with court-ordered supervised visits under Child Protective Services. Families receive bilingual information, effective referrals and case management support. During each visit, our clients participate in educational and recreational activities and receive free or discounted rates to points of cultural and recreational interest in and around San Francisco.

Family Support Groups:

The Family Support Group provides leadership development and peer-support to families. The group meets at the Center bi-weekly to attend workshops and listen to professional speakers. Meanwhile, we provide well-structured childcare and snacks for children in an adjoining room.

In addition to the Family Support Group, we also provide a group specifically for mothers. Our Mother's Support Group provides a safe space for communal support amongst women in the community. In the process of enjoying this space of connection, solidarity, and expression, our participants also have the opportunity to create a genuine network--where the exchange of information about jobs, rooms for rent, or other important activities within the community can take place. In our support group our mothers learn that help comes in emotional and social forms, and that seeking and providing such support, by way of camaraderie, is not only beneficial, but uniquely empowering.

Community Education:

The Community Education program provides community members with information and support in order to empower them and to encourage their involvement in political and social change issues. La Raza holds a weekly class focused on citizenship, English language class, and literacy on Wednesday evenings throughout the year. In addition, we host a range of seminars on nights and weekends throughout the year, covering topics from voter education and registration to and workers rights.
